Arduino CD Drive Plotter
I had a couple of old CD ROM drives that hadn't been used in years and decided to make something with them. I stripped them both down in to parts, then bolted the mechanisms to the top of the drive cases. Next I glued them together at 90 degrees to give X movement of the pen assembly and Y movement of the drawing surface.

I then used one of the plastic mechanisms to make the pen holder, which allows a servo to move the pen up and down. Coins were used to add weight otherwise the pen wouldn't write properly. To power the project an Arduino with a motor shield was used, along with the GCtrl software to send the commands.
